Can I afford to begin reloading? – Bacon Economics

I’ve always thought the MOST IMPORTANT piece of equipment is a POWDER SCALE. And that should always be mentioned FIRST. I know all about LEE dippers & have used them. But I feel the SCALE SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED AS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.
Thank you Roger. No doubt, knowing exactly how much powder is going into your cases is extremely important, especially in situations where you are near a max load. I would certainly emphasize that point in a “how to reload” type video. I didn’t feel the need to stress that in this video since it is far more of a “yes, you really can afford to start reloading” video, and wasn’t specific to any particular equipment.
Lee dippers are safe. They usually drop 90% of the listed weight. Scales are not needed if the dippers are used.
I don’t consider Lee dippers to be safe for beginners at all. Most people today lack common sense and think more is better. New Beginning Reloaders DON’T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY’RE DOING IN THE BEGINNING. Unless they are fortunate enough to have EXPERIENCED help, they can be a danger to themselves and other shooters around them. It takes a disciplined hand to use Lee dippers correctly. A SCALE ELIMINATES mistakes.

If the answer is YES to either of these questions I buy the rifle. Having had the purchase confirmed I then hunted around the web to buy some factory ammo. best delivery – 6 months! Plan B…… I… Read more »
What a pain! But, where there’s a will, there’s a way. I have a feeling that when the majority of our community sees a challenge, or hears the word “no”, our first reaction is usually going to be, “Challenge accepted!”
Very true, but you explained it even better 🙂
I’m sitting here eating hamburgers while I watch this. They have lots of bacon. Bacon does make everything better.
I just got back from the scrap yard; lead is 50 cents a pound. I found some industrial electrical clamps that are really hard, about like type metal. Pretty good buy. Making ingot after dinner.
