Thanks for posting the rules up. I did get out to the range today with my father in law. I shot a few 300 BO but they were supers and weren’t developed loads.

I have a hand full of the infamous Lee 230s and a few of 182 grain flat nose bullets that need loaded. I’ll take the red dot off of my brother’s AR pistol and slap on my scope if I can. Perhaps that will get me on card, but probably not winning. I’m not that steady.

I’ll have to get in on this. My RAR shoots the NOE 230gr right around 1050fps nicely with CFE BLK.

What charge and primer? Compressed or not?

10.8gr and a CCI srp. IIRC it is compressed, but not sure.

That makes sense. CFE BLK is generally agreed to give crappy SD until it is compressed.

We had a dime shoot at 100 on 300 BLK talk. I used supers as did most, one guy used subs and embarrassed us.Quite an achievement!

It is going to be a squeeze. I can’t be sure of getting a range trip in or not before then. I really want to though.

Just submitted an entry. Forgot to mention it was shot with a Remington Model 7 with a Leupold Mark AR 4-12x.

Abject failure. All my bullets wanted to go sideways. Not sure exactly what was up, but this is the first time I used those bullets. But I have until Feb 7 to get some success.

GunFun, what was your load and what firearm were you shooting?

Franken AR pistol. 10.5″ 1:8 PSA barrel. Load Converted LC 9.5 and 10.1 grains of IMR 4227, WSR primer, Lee 309-230-5R from montoype, heat treated, and with smooth thin PC. I didn’t actually hardness test those, but they should be over 22 BHN, and they ring like zinc. A few of them wouldn’t chamber because the nose+ PC was interfering with the leade. I took those home and seated them to cover the driving band and they seat now. I know this mold has a bad reputation, but it is one of two that might work. From what I have… Read more »

Yeah, that mold doesn’t get rave reviews. I haven’t tried it, but shot some almost identical bullets from Hunters Supply that were fairly hard and a bit undersized. They were hitting sideways at 10 yards. I have no idea what your experience level is, so I hesitate to offer suggestions….but…if it were me I’d try a much softer alloy and make sure they were sized .310 or so.

I used this mold in my submission, you can see from the single hole on my 8.5×11 target that I don’t have all my bugs worked out yet either, at least mine is functioning and doesn’t appear to be keyholeing on any of the targets I’ve observed.
