TC Compass .308 – 1000 Yards 180gr Nosler/Varget – Little Hawk Hits His Mark

A perfect way to end a long work day…

Weather opens up to a beautiful afternoon. Zero wind. Good visibility. Perfect opportunity for my son to reach out with his TC Compass with the new 180gr Nosler BT developed round.

Without chronograph numbers I estimated these 180gr Nosler Accubond bullets to be traveling around 2580 FPS. I set my elevation adjustment at 37 and a quarter MOA. I had my son start out at 1 MOA left for spin drift and after two shots and correcting for only half MOA left, we where dialed in. Elevation was spot on thanks to the Sterlok Pro App.

Varget powder seems to be a really good choice for this rifle. I settled at 43.6gr with the bullets jumping .110″ to lands. COAL of 2.810″. It shoots a consistent near half inch 3 shot group. At this distance there wasn’t much vertical spreading from my testing. The question now is weight or speed? Stick with the 168gr? Or go with the heavier 180gr to fight wind but loose scope adjustments… Hmmm I ponder

I’ve probably watched this video 5 times now. Can’t get enough of watching Little Hawk calmly banging the steel at 1000. But he has an awesome mentor showing him how to get it done. Great job Kenny
