Barrel length makes a big difference, especially in the “high velocity” 22 long rifle rounds. I tested a variety of 22lr ammo in three Marlin 39’s (39A with a 24″ barrel, a 39 Mountie with a 20″ barrel and a 39TDS with a 16″ barrel). The 24″ barrel had the highest velocity in every HV 22lr brand I tested. CCI Mini Mag 40g averaged 1255 fps in the 24″ barrel, 1225 in the 20″ barrel and 1221 in the 16″ barrel. Gotta love the marketing schemes. I wonder of the velocities where out of a rifle. That could possibly make up the 200 FPS but that is alot. Nathan
