RCBS swaging die, cast 30-30 bullets, and 84 year old 30.06 brass
2A On A Budget
By the way, what powder coat is that that looks like copper? It looks really good.
I’ve been meaning to ask James about it. It looks like a light brown or tan, but could be some kind of copper. I just know that he does a better job with powder coating than I do… for now! 1😉 LOL
HEY, I recognize that bag that has 452 crossed off 🤣🤣 Mr Pollard is recycling bags that people send him! Atta boy, James. Very nice looking bullets! I like that swager setup. I use the RCBS tool that removes the brass and has the stopper for my case prep center. It takes a minute to remove the material but it works well. Looking forward to seeing you shoot these. Good vid, Jerry!
Thanks, Kurt. I’m going to be trying some variations on the crimp removal, in the near future. I’ve received some good suggestions, and I’d like to try all of them. I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to shoot these, I have to get ready for the deer hunt in a couple of weeks (19th), then any range time will be dictated by the weather.
That’s quite a pile of bullets and gear you’ve got sitting there. I’m starting to think some people like you Jerry 😉 Looking forward to seeing some of those pretty bullets fly down range.
I’m very blessed to have such wonderful friends and mentors! Fortunately, they have been trying to save me from myself, and it might be a week, or two before I can see how these beauties fly. The weather in my part of the country has suddenly changed to winter, and is a bit unsettled. Plus, in 2.5 weeks I’ll be deer hunting, and I really need to get some content in the can for the 1.5 weeks I’ll be in the mountains.
😂 welcome to the CRS club.
CRS? I can’t remember what that is…. LOL 🤪
What did the RanchDogs actually size at when going through the .311″ die? .3111~.3112″? I wouldn’t go through the entire bag-O-cast and size them till you get a feel for what size you rifle actually wants. I’m guessing .3095~.310″ ought be fine. Good luck with the .30-30 series, It’ll be fun to watch.
Those Dogs were .312″ before I started. The new .209 sizing die will help, once I tune it.
