44 Mag (1100 fps), Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point, Bare Gel (PC HP Test)

Shooting the 44 Magnum loaded with the 200 grain Speer GDHP at about 1100 fps into Clear Ballistics Gel from my S&W 629. This series is a long experiment testing powder coated cast lead hollow point bullets made from various alloys and fired at various velocities.

Yeah, those penta hollow points are going to be tough to beat. Not to mention that our cast bullets are bound to be easier on our barrels. I’ve been paying attention to my Uberti “Original Henry” copy in .44-40 lately. That rifle is a hoot to shoot. Since it uses .430” bullets, my Lee 200 gr RNFP cast is proving to be a winner, coming out of the barrel at 1100 fps. Felt recoil is very small, too. The rifle is massive. The way they performed you are lucky you didn’t have to get a tax stamp as a destructive device. They kinda hand gernaded. If used on squirrels would they be grenadines or artillery?🤔testing all ways leads to more questions. 👍😁lol
