Wet Tumbling with guntap Brass Shine Powdered Detergent

Is wet tumbling with Brass Shine better than using a combination of Dawn and Lemi Shine?

Brass Shine certainly got the brass clean. Is it worth the $10-$15/lb price? Only you can decide that for yourself, but there are some advantages to consider:
– formulated specifically for cleaning metal
– little foaming
– convenient; no mixing or measuring specific proportions of separate cleaners
– includes a water softener
– concentrated; 1 lb bags = 25 gallons of cleaning solution
– made in USA

The stuff is easier than lemi shine and soap and really does a great job.. but it is expensive.. I bought 10lbs of guntap pins and they gave me 4 sample packs per request 🙂 I made a beautiful 5gal bucket tumbler and Ive only lost 2oz of pins after 101 tumbles of easily 50k pieces of brass. But if anyone is looking for Stainless media Jerry Miculek recommends these https://www.localgymsandfitness.com/US/Cherryville/713665838693409/Southern-Shine-Media great price as well. Thanks LOB for new content.

OMG Bacon, $15 a pound?? I use 3/4 tablespoon.of Dawn & 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi shine per the large Frankford arsenal tumbler w/ 700 5.56 rounds. The water comes out black and the brass is like new! Ya gotta compare apples to apples not apples to oranges. Sorry, I won’t be buying any of that gold powder.

What did the brass look like before tumbling I have some really nasty looking brass that has sat for twenty + years would be fun to see what it does for that stuff only thing is I dry tumble

I’ve bookmarked Guntap. When I use up my Jiff jar of citric acid I’ll give them a try.
I don’t think my SS pins will wear out, but a couple seem to accidentally go down the drain with each load of brass I clean. So eventually I’ll need more.

Nice! The pink is caused by too much acid or base. May just be a little to much cleaner (guntap) for those containers. A good option that it comes with pins.
