What happens when Wyoming has a long winter and Steve is locked up in his shop for way too long? He puts together an awesome gun, that’s what! This one is a TC Contender with an EA Brown barrel chambered in 22 Mag. This could be the perfect rifle for our 500 yard rimfire zombie. […]

This is what the Tikka T3x 7mm SAUM was built for! Going further than every other tool in my safe. This trip was the entire drive behind the build and the choice of each component to carefully curate a 2,000 yard capable rig, the Vasara! (Means Hammer in Finnish where Tikka is manufactured) I have been chomping at the bit for more than a year to attempt this feat and bring you guys this video. I’m glad to share my results and bring you along the journey! Can’t wait for the next goal to crush!
A common thought that people often have is, “I don’t own anything that can shoot that far.” Well, you’re probably wrong. Go to your gun safe and grab your trusty deer rifle and you just might have all you need to start long range shooting. Many of the most popular hunting rifles are more than […]
Often when we have someone start talking to us about long range shooting they often say something like, “Yeah I would like to do that, but I can’t afford the rifle I would need”, or, “That sounds like an expensive hobby”, or maybe, “I don’t reload so I can’t be successful at distance.” While equipment […]
Man what a great day out! The desert is green! 60° and sunny with virtually no wind. We brought some hammers and went to work on the steel at a mile!
From the first rounds fired to 60 rounds down the tube here is the update on the 7mm SAUM Tikka T3x Custom Rifle. Velocities and group sizes mostly with H1000 and the Sierra 183 Matchking bullet.
It has been a long long winter this year in Wyoming. In fact, as I am typing this post it is calling for another 6-10 inches of snow in my area over the next 24 hours. It’s April 9th and supposed to be spring!!! The snow has made it pretty much impossible to go do […]

I planned a trip with my family to go out and shoot, so I set up a full size IPSC silhouette at the 1,000 yard line got the rifle on target and turned over the Uintah Precision chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor to them! It was a very windy day holding 5-10 MOA for wind to […]

If you have ever shot IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association) you might get a kick out of this video. It gives a pretty good depiction of the difference between a rookie and a veteran trying to shoot 500 yards from a body supported shooting position with a scoped pistol. Feel free to laugh we […]
Here is a playlist with all 3 of my long-range milk jug challenges following the Long Range Shooters of Utah rules. It was a great time and a fantastic test to see how I stack up against the long list of excellent shooters who have also attempted the challenge.
What happens when you introduce your kids to long range shooting? Well they out shoot you of course.
This video shows what really happens when you try to be a good parent and teach your kid all about firearms and how to shoot. There is a really good chance that they will end up shooting better than you so be very careful if you have a delicate ego that might be damaged by […]
Looking for a new longrange rifle but not sure what caliber to use? You might want to look into a 7mm Practical.
If you’re having a hard time choosing a caliber for your next rifle build, you may want to look into a 7mm Practical. With the new high BC 180gr family of .284 caliber bullets, and this cartridge’s ability to push them at 3200 fps, it makes for a really flat shooting long-range cartridge. Not to […]
